The legal entity which collects and processes your personal data is Make Sense SRL (referred as Make Sense). Make Sense SRL is a company registered in Belgium and also operates with trademark Make Sense. In this statement, we elaborate what we collect and why. This Privacy Statement is relevant for you if:

  • you have shared your personal data through a form or page on any our websites
  • you are a client of Make Sense, or want to become one, or have sent us an email.

1. Let us first understand each other’s language

Some of the terms may be confusing. So, you will find a quick reference below:

Content: means any text, graphics, images, audio, video, and any other form of information provided to you.

Service: means courses, products, consulting or advice you are offered.

2. What personal data do we collect about you?

  • partner id (e.g. PECB Id) when you enrol for partner course(s);
  • a list of URLs starting with a referring site, your activity on this web site, and the site you exit to (automatically collected); and

3. What do we do with your personal data?

  • We use your personal data for the following purposes:
    • To provide you with the access to the services you choose
    • To protect the security of the website and its users
    • To comply with applicable laws and regulations.

Any personal data you submit will be retained by us for as long as you use the services provided by us.

  • We may share your personal data with third parties for ensuring that we run our business in a cost-effective way. For example, as part of reconciliation of payments we will share invoices to our accountant. Similarly, when applicable, we share your PECB Id with our partner PECB so that the appropriate course you paid for with us is assigned to you in their portal. Additionally, candidate details will be shared with trainers to facilitate the delivery of the necessary training and certification process;
  • We store your personal data securely in accordance with the principles of the EU GDPR 2016/679. For example, we make sure access to our systems is protected using a password.
  • We use your data for improving our services to deliver you a better experience. This includes:
    • internal record keeping;
    • improvement of our products and services;
    • transmission by email for new services that may be of interest to you;
    • contacting you for feedback, market research.
  • We process your personal information when you register for an event or training:
    • Identification and contact details (first name, last name, address, telephone number, e-mail)
    • Membership details (PECB membership or partner membership, …)
    • Financial data (for example, data relating to payment)
    • Personal characteristics (language and sex)
    • Professional data (occupation and career).

The legal basis is contractual necessity and our legitimate interest to deliver you the promised service at professional quality.

Personal data must be provided to enable the performance of the contract, namely the event or the training.

The personal data may be obtained from your employer or from training partners.

Processing personal data for event and training management purposes includes among others:

  • Event organization,
  • Training organization, including:
    • Communicate schedules and training details,
    • Process payments,
    • Administer training and facilitate certification,
    • Record evidence of entry and attendance to the training to ensure compliance with security, health and safety requirements.

We will retain information about event and training participation until 10 years after the end of the event or training.

  • We process the following data for direct marketing purposes:
    • Name and contact details
    • Personal characteristics
    • Professional data
    • IP address

This data is sourced from our analytics tracking system.

Direct marketing includes:

  • Keeping you informed of future Make Sense and partner events (including events, certification courses etc.)
  • Sending you newsletters and tracking the IP address to the demographic analysis of the geographical location of constituents.

The legal basis is consent (non-members) or opt-in for communications (members). You can opt-out of these communications by sending an e-mail with “unsubscribe” in the subject.

We retain personal data for a period of 3 years following the last meaningful contact. After the end of this period, your personal data will be securely deleted if it is no longer necessary for the fulfilment of a contract, the initiation of a contract, or in relation to any legal proceedings. We may keep anonymized data for statistical and research purposes.

4. Who do we share your personal data with?

We do not sell your data. We are in the business to serve you.

Maintaining a website or providing services online requires that we use services from other companies. For example, we use PECB platform to ensure that you can access the courses you buy. Below are some examples on what we do with other companies:

  • To host our website, or create interesting pages for you, we use providers like Bluehost, GoDaddy, WordPress and WooCommerce.
  • To analyse and monitor the traffic on our website, we use analysis services (Google Analytics) from companies like Google, as well as TWIPLA.
  • To maintain our data, ensure you receive emails and store all the information, we use services from Microsoft, Google and other companies.

As these companies help us by providing services to us and in running our operations in a cost-effective manner, your personal data does get exchanged with them. The terms of service state that your personal data is not used by these companies. 5. Who owns your personal data?

When you provide the information to us, Make Sense SRL is the controller of your personal data that you provide us. If Make Sense SRL is acquired, the company acquiring us would become the controller of your personal data. If this happens, you will be informed.

6. How do we respect your rights?

  • You have the right to ask what information we have, make correction to it, or even ask for deletion or portability of your data. We respect your rights. You can contact us by emailing us (privacy@makesensegrc.com) to exercise your rights.

We rely on the best-in-class providers of services and use mechanisms like password protection, segregation of data and other best practices available to keep your personal data safe.
